Hidden words of love : Family Exhibit

“Me and my sisters missed our mom, since we can't physically see each other during this COVID19 crisis, we decided to paint and share our paintings with each other!”  - Mariam Qureshi

Naseem Qureshi is Mariam Qureshi’s mother. She has been painting for years, in her older age her paintings are mostly landscapes. Saba, Sonia and Anam, three other daughters, are also very creative, they are all well known artists. Saba and Anam are Tattoos artists in Montreal with thier own business “The Bloodline Tattoos” located on the old port and the plateau. Both are internationally recognized for their amazing avant-garde artistic skills as some of the very rare female artists in the profession. Sonia, is a basement poet. Words come easily on paper for her even if she is probably known as the quiet one.

During COVID19 the whole family is faced with closures to their businesses. This is not strange to many artists these days. It is known hat 64% of artists have found themselves unemployed and exhibits have become impossible as the city, the country and the world stays home to deal with the pandemic!

Separated by the physical distance they are keep the social and creative alive. This exhibit is an overview of the creative expressive conversation this family is having in early months of COVID19 closures.

“Its our unconscious requiem of expression and thought sharing it with everyone might be interesting and might resonate some form of connection from the inside out.” - Family Qureshi
